Summary:Provided are an endoscope and an endoscope system, wherein a high voltage is prevented from being applied to an image pickup element at the time when a pulse signal is stopped and at the time of start up. An endoscope 2 is provided with: a first chip 21 having a first buffer 26 that outputs image pickup signals to the outside, said image pickup signals having been generated by means of a light receiving unit 23; and a second chip 22 having a second buffer 27, which amplifies the image pickup signals outputted from the first buffer 26, and outputs the signals to a transmission cable 3.
