Summary: | The objective of the present invention is to obtain a lithium ion secondary battery which is capable of improving the output power when charged/discharged at low temperatures or at room temperature. A lithium ion secondary battery which achieves the above-mentioned objective comprises a positive electrode plate (11) having a positive electrode mixture layer and a negative electrode plate (12) having a negative electrode mixture layer (45). The negative electrode mixture layer (45) contains a graphite-based material (42), a metal oxide (44) and a conductive assistant (43). The conductive assistant (43) is composed of a carbon material that is not doped/undoped with lithium ions, and is 0.4% by weight or more but less than 1.2% by weight relative to the weight of the negative electrode mixture layer (45).
