Summary:The present invention relates to an SCR catalyst for reduction of nitrogen oxides at elevated temperatures. There is provided a process for producing a copper zeolite catalyst for selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides, wherein the process comprises acid treatment of the provided zeolite matrix, calcination of the zeolite matrix and copper ions, and optionally further introduction of metal ions, wherein calcination at temperatures above 700 DEG C is carried out between these steps. The process may be carried out using a pure zeolite matrix or a zeolite matrix that already contains copper.
