Summary: | The invention discloses a preparation method for an alkane dehydrogenation catalyst and an application thereof. The catalyst comprises a carrier, a main catalyst and an auxiliary catalyst, wherein the carrier is an Mg-Al-O composite oxide, the auxiliary catalyst is selected from at least one of tin, indium and gallium, and the main catalyst is nickel. The preparation method comprises the steps of calcining Mg-Al-O hydrotalcite containing the main catalyst and the auxiliary catalyst in a microwave field to obtain the catalyst. The catalyst disclosed by the invention is applied in dehydrogenation reaction of cycloalkanes and paraffins, and has high selectivity of target products and relatively good reaction stability and regeneration performance.
