More specifically, emissive displays having independently addressable (controllable) light emitting elements fitted with redundant control circuits may be utilized. In the event of a failure, one set of redundant control circuits may be disabled while another set of redundant control circuits may be enabled to keep the display device fail-operational. 本发明公开了种故障-运行显示装置和控制故障-运行显示装置的方法。更具体地，装有冗余控制电路的具有独立可访问的（可控的）发光元件的反射显示器被利用。在发生故障时，组冗余控制电路可以被禁用，而另组冗余控制电路可以被启用以保持显示设备故障后仍可运行。
