The invention discloses a system for managing vehicles in a parking lot. The system comprises sensors, cameras arranged in the parking lot and a server, wherein each sensor is arranged at each parking space and used for sensing whether a vehicle parks at the parking space or not; each camera is used for shooting the picture of the license plate of the corresponding vehicle when the corresponding sensor senses that the vehicle parks at the corresponding parking space; the server is used for receiving the license plate pictures shot by the cameras, identifying license plate number and building a corresponding database of the license plate number and parking space number. The system has the advantages that a car owner can use an intelligent terminal to log in the server and inquiry the parking space number corresponding to the license plate number by inputting the license plate number, and accordingly the car owner can conveniently find own vehicle in the large parking lot according to the parking space number.
