An anti-fogging article with both excellent anti-fogging properties and wear resistance, and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. This anti-fogging article comprises a base body, a water absorbent resin layer which is arranged on the base body, and an overcoat layer which is arranged on the water absorbent resin layer and which includes silica particles and the hydrolysis condensate of an alkoxysilane compound. The overcoat layer has a film thickness of 20-350nm, and is formed from an overcoat composition which, for a total of 100 parts by mass of the silica particles and the alkoxysilane compound, contains 90-45 parts by mass of the alkoxysilane compound and 10-55 parts by mass of the silica particles. 本发明提供防雾性和耐磨损性这两者优异的防雾性物品及其制造方法。所述防雾性物品具有基体、配置在该基体上的吸水性树脂层和配置在该吸水性树脂层上的含有烷氧基硅烷化合物的水解缩合物和二氧化硅粒子的外涂层，所述外涂层的膜厚为20～350nm，所述外涂层由外涂组合物形成，所述外涂组合物相对于所述烷氧基硅烷化合物和所述二氧化硅粒子的合计100质量份含有所述烷氧基硅烷化合物90～45质量份和所述二氧化硅粒子10～55质量份。
