The invention provides a down-conversion device and method for a broadband Ka band. The device comprises a Ka-X-band down converter and an X-band down converter, wherein the Ka-X-band down converter is used for acquiring a radio-frequency signal of a Ka band amplified by a first low-noise amplifier, down converting the radio-frequency signal to an X band, and outputting the radio-frequency signal to the X-band down converter; and the X-band down converter is used for down converting the received radio-frequency signal on the X band to an intermediate-frequency signal of 1.2GHz+/-500MHz.
