Summary: | A peptide which does not cause substantial thrombocytopenia at the minimum dose at which the peptide exhibits in vivo the activity of inhibiting the binding of von Willebrand factors with platelets is obtained by reacting an oligopeptide derived from a venom having the above activity with a protein modifier and glutathione and/or cysteine to thereby break the disulfide bonds between the peptide chains constituting the oligopeptide while substantially preserving the disulfide bonds within the peptide chains intact. The above peptide, its variant or a part thereof is produced by the genetic engineering technique using genes that code for the same. |
