Summary:The invention provides a message forwarding method and a message forwarding device. According to the message forwarding method and the message forwarding device, a virtual MAC address of a VRRP member backup group carried by a data message in normal service triggers an access switch to update or learn a MAC forwarding table item matched with the virtual MAC address of the VRRP member backup group, the inherent restrictions of characteristics of a VRRP management group is compensated, and many problems caused by the fact that aging time of the virtual MAC address that a terminal learns through an ARP request is much greater than the aging time of the MAC forwarding table item learnt by SW can be avoided.
