Summary:The invention relates to a method for treating the surface of a rotary bearing having a first and a second bearing half (5, 6) which can be rotated with respect to each other, wherein a protective seal arrangement separates a gap (4) from a surface (8) to be processed. Following a surface treatment, a first seal part (1) having a first sealing lip (7a) is separated off, by which means, in the gap, a second seal part (2) having a second, a third and preferably a fourth sealing lip (7b, 7c, 7d) is exposed. The processing limit previously formed at the first sealing lip is then re-worked. The subject matter of the invention is also the protective seal arrangement for carrying out said method.
