The invention provides a video play method and device. The method comprises: acquiring play progress information of each sub-file in a video file, wherein the video file comprises at least two sub-files; displaying a play progress bar list, wherein the play progress bar list comprises play progress bars of the at least two sub-files, and the play progress bar of any sub-file displays the play progress of the sub-file according to the play progress information corresponding to the sub-file; receiving an instruction of a user about playing a target sub-file selected according to the play progress bars, wherein the target sub-file is one of the at least two sub-files; and playing the target sub-file according to the instruction. By adopting the video play method, a user can accurately learn the current watching state of each sub-file according to the play progress bar list, so that files which do not need to be watched are prevented from being repeatedly opened and the user can conveniently select the files.
