The invention discloses a water-soluble polymer for processing cotton-type warp yarns and applications thereof. The water-soluble polymer for processing cotton-type warp yarns is a carbon-chain polymeric acrylate-based derivative, a lateral group is composed of a R radical, a M radical and a R' radical, and under the action of the three kinds of lateral groups, the mass percentage of the structure of the R radical is 40-70%, the mass percentage of the structure of the M radical is 45-25%, and the mass percentage of the structure of the R' radical is 15-5%. Wet warp yarns starched by using the water-soluble polymer disclosed by the invention are not required to be specially dried, and in the process of starching, on the premise that a drying drum of a slasher in a drying room is not heated and a wet warp yarn directly passes through the air, the wet warp yarn is blow-dried by cold air, and wound around a loom beam, then the wet warp yarn can be applied to subsequent weaving, therefore, a convenient and energy-
