The invention discloses a novel method used for preparing a porous carbon material used for supercapacitors from starch. According to the novel method, a starch solution is subjected to condensation polymerization carbonization under high pressure hydrothermal conditions, and activation at certain conditions so as to prepare porous carbon with high specific capacity. The novel method comprises following steps: the starch solution with a certain concentration is subjected to hydrothermal reaction so as to synthesize a solid carbon material; the solid carbon material is mixed with an activator at a certain mass ratio; and an obtained mixture is subjected to activation so as to obtain the high-performance porous carbon used for supercapacitors.
