The invention discloses an elevator button card reading system which comprises a first button component, a card reader, an elevator call board, an adaptor and a main controller, wherein the card reader is contained in a housing of the first button component; the elevator call board is electrically connected with the first button component and the adaptor, and is used for receiving a first button signal from the first button component and transmitting the first button signal to the adaptor; the adaptor is also electrically connected with the card reader and the main controller, and is used for receiving IC card data of a user from the card reader, judging the effectiveness of the first button signal according to the IC card data, and transmitting a judgment result to the main controller; and the main controller is used for controlling operation of an elevator according to the judgment result. According to the elevator button card reading system, the card reader is contained in the housing of the first button component, so that neither the card reader is required to be isolated from an elevator operation panel, nor a hole is required to be opened in the elevator operation panel; the problem that a card reading distance is shortened due to poor isolation effect is solved; and the product cost and the mounting workload are reduced.
