Summary: | The invention provides a ginkgo biloba extract for treating epilepsy. Medicinal components of the ginkgo biloba extract include, by weight, 10%-12% of total gingko terpene lactones, 40%-44% of total flavonoids and 45%-50% of procyanidins, wherein the sum of weight percentages of the total gingko terpene lactones, the total flavonoids and the procyanidins is larger than 95%, the weight percentage of total flavonol glycosides is 24%-26%, a ratio of weight percentages of the procyanidins to the total flavonoids is 1.05-1.25, and a ratio of weight percentages of the procyanidins to the total gingko terpene lactones is 4.0-4.4. The ginkgo biloba extract can be used for preparing medicines for treating sustained epilepsy, abnormal epileptic discharge in rat brains after epilepsy and learning and memory impairment caused by epilepsy. |
