The invention provides an installation method for a flexible leg of a gantry crane. The installation method includes the following steps that firstly, the flexible leg of the gantry crane is divided into an upper connector, two supporting rods and a lower cross beam, and the upper connector, the two supporting rods and the lower cross beam are connected in a relative rotation manner; secondly, the lower cross beam is divided into a left section and a right section, and all parts of the flexible leg of the gantry crane are integrally preassembled on the ground; thirdly, paint repairing is conducted on the assembled flexible leg of the gantry crane, a flange plate technology bolt is demounted after repairing, and all assemblies are transferred to an installation area; and fourthly, the lower cross beam, the upper connector and the supporting rods are hung respectively and are installed in place. According to the installation method for the flexible leg of the gantry crane, the flexible leg is sectioned, the aerial installation work of the flexible leg can be conducted on a low level through installation of a traction system, safety and flexibility of installation are improved, and the whole installation process is smoother.
