The invention discloses an impeller of a washing machine. The impeller comprises an impeller disk, wherein a middle boss and a plurality of washing ribs are arranged on the upper surface of the impeller disk; a plurality of ring-shaped reinforcing ribs and a plurality of impeller blades are arranged on the lower surface of the impeller disk; the impeller blades are connected with the outermost ring-shaped reinforcing rib; connecting ribs are arranged among the ring-shaped reinforcing ribs; an impeller lining is arranged in the innermost ring-shaped reinforcing rib with the smallest radius; the washing ribs are circularly and uniformly distributed around the middle boss and form an S shape along the radial direction of the impeller disk; the middle boss is shaped like a circular truncated cone; convex ribs which protrude outward along the radial direction of the bottom surface are arranged at the side of the circular truncated cone and are smoothly connected with the corresponding washing ribs; the numbers of the washing ribs and the convex ribs are the same; runners for communicating the space above the impeller with the space below the impeller are arranged in the middle boss; and the shape of an impeller formed by the impeller blades satisfies the following condition: when the impeller rotates forward or backward, the water formed by stirring of the impeller flows through the runners upward or downward.
