The invention relates to a process for the preparation of an injection valve (1) for an internal combustion engine. The injection valve (1) comprises a valve body (5) with a valve head (6), the valve head has at least one spray hole (10). The valve head (6) is adapted to at least partly arranged in a combustion chamber (4) of the engine or disposed that at least directly facing the combustion chamber. The valve head (6) is at least partially coated by the following steps with a coating: - passing through the valve body (5) with a fluid, wherein the fluid through an injection hole (10) and emerges from the valve head (6) - at least regionally coating a gaze slip on the valve head (6) with fluid passing through, - drying the gaze slip applied on the valve head (6), - heating the gaze slip applied to the valve head (6) for forming an enamel coating layer(9). Furthermore, the invention relates to an injection valve (1) for an internal combustion engine, in particular produced by the above method.
