The present invention discloses an extension-type movable needle plate and a flat seaming machine with a corner folding function with the needle plate. The extension-type movable needle plate comprises a needle plate body (1), and the needle plate body (1) is provided with installation holes (11), an installation slot (12) and a walking slot (13). The extension-type movable needle plate is characterized in that the needle plate comprises an extension-type movable thread holding post (2), one end of the thread holding post (2) is provided with two projections (21) while the other end is provided with an installation hole (22), and the thread holding post (2) can extend in the installation slot and is L-shaped. The thread holding post (2) is connected with a pneumatic drive mechanism and extends in relative to the needle plate body (1); when ordinary straight sewing is carried out, an electromagnetic valve (37) is at a normally-open state, an air cylinder is inflated to extend, and the thread holding post (2) stretches to play a thread holding role; when a corner folding sewing is carried out, a contact switch is touched, the electromagnetic valve (37) is closed, an air path is closed, the air cylinder withdraws, and the thread holding post (2) withdraws to complete corner folding sewing; and after corner folding is completed, the contact switch is released, the air path opens, and ordinary sewing is continued.
