The invention relates to a shell cracker for cracking a shell of a walnut and a control method thereof. The shell cracker comprises a conical hopper, a box body, a dual-end wrenching mechanism and a material push tube. The dual-end wrenching mechanism comprises a fixed cylinder, a movable cylinder, a driving disc, a first motor, a first telescoping drill group and a second telescoping drill group. The invention further discloses a control method of the shell cracker. The shell cracker is simple in structure, practical and convenient. The shell cracker can crack a shell of the walnut through easily wrenching the walnut with the minimum damage to a core of the walnut, the appearance of the core of the walnut can be ensured.
