The invention discloses a method for preparing rectangular waveguide. The method comprises that (a) a first die rod (4) is arranged at one end of a cavity of a billet pipe (3); (b) the billet pipe (3) is extruded by an outside force so that the inner wall of the billet pipe (3) makes close contact with the external surface of the first die rod (4); (c) a second die rod (5) is arranged at the other end of the cavity of the billet pipe (3); (d) a clamping die is arranged at the external surface of the cavity of the billet pipe (3); (e) the first die rod (4) is fixed, the billet pipe (3) is drawn to move towards the end of the second die rod (5), and a blank member of the rectangular waveguide is formed; and (f) the blank member of the rectangular waveguide is intercepted and processed to form the rectangular waveguide. The preparation method is simple in operation, avoids influence on the precision of the rectangular waveguide in the welding process, and improves the production efficiency of the rectangular waveguide.
