The invention relates to the technical field of detection apparatuses, especially to a hand-held surface detection apparatus used for plastic dies. The hand-held surface detection apparatus comprises a lateral connection board. The upper end of the left side surface of the lateral connection board is equipped with an upper movable groove. The lower end of the left side surface of the lateral connection board is equipped with a lower movable groove. The top end of the left side of the lateral connection board is provided with an upper detection movable plate. The bottom end of the left side of the lateral connection board is provided with a lower detection movable plate. Detection mechanisms formed by multiple independent miniature distance sensors are fixed to plastic dies that correspond to the detection movable plates, and then different position distances are displayed by a front-side display device. In this way, flatness of all positions can be known conveniently in a more visual manner, and detection is easier and faster. Moreover, the apparatus is small in size, low in cost and long in battery life, and is convenient to carry.
