Summary:The invention discloses an elevator braking force detection device and method and relates to driving mechanisms matched with elevators in storied houses or other buildings. According to the method, output torque is increased in sections, and the output torque is increased in a linear manner; the braking force problem can be accurately detected in time, and the elevator is prevented from running under the situation of insufficient braking force, so that danger is avoided. Meanwhile, the method also considers an unbalance loading in the counter-weight direction in the empty load state, and elevators with any balance coefficients can be detected; and the braking force amplitude value can be accurately calculated through the balance coefficients. The method is short in detection time, and the normal use of the elevator is not influenced.
