The invention discloses an instant message exchange system and method for an on-line sports team. The system and the method are mainly characterized in that a cloud server provides a sports message exchange platform, which is connected with more than one electronic device through a network to exchange messages. A user increases more than one sports team on the sports message exchange platform through an electronic device, and defines sports items and rules of a sports team, so that more than two sports members perform more than one competition item with a cooperative mechanism; and a physiological value sent by the electronic device can be further received as a score calculation reference. The sports team of the user can achieve a goal at different time and different place in a manner of teamwork and team competition, so as to reduce the time wasted when the user is invited or waits for sports and improve the sports efficiency; and the competition results and records are automatically processed by the sports message exchange platform, so that inconvenience and errors caused by manual operation are greatly reduced.
