Summary:The invention provides a PVR (Personal Video Record) and a set top box. The method comprises the following steps: arranging a calculation module in the set top box in advance; determining the head time t0 and end time t1 of a continuous television drama by the set top box through the calculation module; and playing the continuous television drama through the set top box, skipping the head part of each episode in the continuous television drama according to the head time T0, and skipping the end part of each episode in the continuous television drama according to the end time t1. Through the technical scheme of the invention, the head part and the end part of each episode in the continuous television drama can be skipped automatically during playing of a PVR continuous television drama in the set top box, so that the user experience is improved.
