By means of the method, forklift collapsing postures can be judged and classified, and the basis can be provided for forklift transverse stability classification control; by means of the method, through the collapsing classification transverse stability control strategy, different transverse stability control strategies are adopted according to different forklift collapsing grades, the forklift collapsing posture adjustment and forklift collapsing probability reduction are achieved, and the transverse stability and active safety of a forklift are improved. The method and the electronic control system are suitable for three-point supporting type forklifts of various types.
