Disclosed is a method for automatically responding a handset incoming call. The method comprises: setting a trip destination; pre-setting time and a short message template by calculating an average speed; shutting a ring tone off when an incoming call is on a handset; detecting whether a distance sensor of the handset is shielded; meanwhile, using a rear camera for taking a photo; detecting whether the color of the photo is uniform; when the distance sensor is shielded and the color of the photo is uniform, calculating the average speed in the pre-set time after the incoming call has been on the handset through GPS location technology; when the average speed exceeds a pre-set value, calculating the time needed from a current position to the destination via GPS location technology; hanging the handset off; using the pre-set short message template; inserting time for achieving the destination; and sending a short message for responding the incoming call. The invention also provides a system for automatically responding a handset incoming call. By using the system and method, accidents due to answering a handset by a handset owner during high-speed driving are avoided.
