The invention provides a position detection system capable of suppressing a misdetection that is caused at a floor different from a floor at which a user actually exists. In the inventive position detection system, when the user with a tag passes a radio wave range of a tag reader arranged near a door, the floor indentification information is stored to the tag, then when the user moves in the radio wave range of the tag reader arranged on a ceiling, even the radio wave of the tag reader arranged on the ceiling of the adjacent floor leaks, because the floor identification information is different, the user identification information is not sent, and yet the user identification information is sent to the tag reader arranged at the floor having the same floor identification information stored in the tag.
