The invention discloses a monoammonium glycyrrhizinate sustained release preparation and a preparation method thereof. The monoammonium glycyrrhizinate sustained release preparation comprises 100 parts of monoammonium glycyrrhizinate, 50-1000 parts of a sustained release auxiliary material, 1-5 parts of a lubricant, 20-100 parts of a diluent and 50-200 parts of an adhesive. The preparation method has the advantages of simple steps and convenient operation. The monoammonium glycyrrhizinate sustained release preparation has the characteristics of slow release of a drug at a proper speed, small fluctuation of the peak valley of the blood drug concentration, avoiding of toxic side effects due to exceeding of a treatment blood drug concentration range, and maintenance of an effective concentration range for a long time; and compared with common preparations, the sustained release preparation has the advantages of prolongation of the lasting time of the treatment effect, toxic side effect reduction, reduction of the drug use frequency, and improvement of the use compliance of the drug.
