Summary: | Provided is a coated nickel hydroxide powder in which dispersibility when converted into a paste is improved and agglomeration suppressed, and which can be filled at a high density into a three-dimensional porous metal body during production of positive electrodes for use in alkali secondary batteries. This coated nickel hydroxide powder comprises nickel hydroxide particles coated on the surface with a coating layer of a cobalt compound, and the pH (at a 25 DEG C reference) of a suspension comprising 10ml of water added to 10g of the coated nickel hydroxide powder is 10.2 or greater. To this end, the coated nickel hydroxide powder obtained through a crystallization step and a coating step is washed in the washing step until elution of ammonium ions into the suspension comprising 10ml of water added to 10g of the coated nickel hydroxide powder is 0.35mmol/l or less. |
