Summary:The invention discloses a method and an apparatus for transmitting messages. The method comprises the following steps: a first PE device allocates a bypass PW for an AC corresponding to each CE device; the first PE device receives a first message to be transmitted to a target CE device; if the AC corresponding to the target CE device is out of order, the first PE device determines the bypass PW corresponding to the AC corresponding to the target CE device and sends the first message to a second PE device via the bypass PW, and the second PE device sends the first message to the target CE device. According to the method, the bypass PW is introduced to protect the AC so that the traffic of the CE device out of order in link can be forwarded normally.
