The gas rapid returning multi-stage hydraulic buffer comprises a hydraulic cylinder body filled hydraulic oil, a gas cylinder filled inert gas, a third stage plunger, a second stage plunger, a first stage plunger, a tapered rod, a check valve and a gas cylinder, wherein the third stage plunger can be slidably inserted into the cylinder body in the axial direction, the cylindrical third stage plunger is provided with an opening at the bottom of the third stage plunger, the second stage plunger can be slidably inserted into the third stage plunger in the axial direction, an opening is formed in the bottom of the second stage plunger, the first stage plunger can be slidably inserted into the second stage plunger in the axial direction, an opening is formed in the bottom of the first stage plunger, the tapered rod is vertically arranged on a ring-shaped platform in the hydraulic cylinder body and is inserted into the openings of the plungers in the downward movement process of the third stage plunger, the check valve is arranged at the bottom end of the tapered rod to enable the hydraulic oil to flow one way, and the gas cylinder is arranged at the bottom of the tapered rod to enable the third stage plunger to return to the position of unloaded state. The small hole throttle and the compressed inert gas are utilized to achieve the buffing under high speed and heavy load conditions, and the rapid returning of the buffer is achieved by the check valve.
