The invention discloses printing equipment and a method for printing tipping paper used for cigarettes. The printing equipment is characterized in that UV curing equipment is installed on a unit in a first color of the printing equipment and comprises at least a UV source; a plane in which the UV sources are located is parallel to a plane in which paper to be printed is located; the distances between the UV sources and the printed paper are 120-280mm; UV ink is filled in an ink fountain corresponding to the unit in the first color; the tipping paper is guided into the unit in the first color, the paper speed is controlled to be 60-90m/min, the inking amount of the UV ink is controlled to be 0.5-2g/m to carry out UV printing, and the number of UV tubes needing to be switched on is adjusted, so that the UV emitted by the UV tubes irradiates the printed paper to cure the UV ink on the printed paper. The printing equipment has the beneficial effects that the smoothness of the paper is improved while the glossiness of the tipping paper is improved; when subsequent intaglio printing is carried out on the paper with higher smoothness, the levelling property of the ink is better, and the brightness of the color is higher; the production cost is substantially saved.
