Summary:The invention relates to a flow-type electrochemical cell, comprising: (a) an anode half-cell and a cathode half-cell, which are delimited by side elements and contain the respective porous electrodes, and (b) a permeable separating layer that is arranged between the anode half-cell and the cathode half-cell. The electrochemical cell is characterised in that (i) an electrolyte inflow region connected to an electrolyte infeed, and an electrolyte outflow region connected to an electrolyte discharge are provided, wherein (ii) the electrolyte inflow region and the electrolyte outflow region are arranged on opposing sides of the porous electrode, and therefore (iii) inflowing electrolyte flows through the porous electrode perpendicular to the permeable separating layer.
