Summary:The invention relates to a power receiving apparatus capable of receiving power through wireless power supply by utilization of magnetic field resonance of a resonance element, and a power receiving method. Wireless power supply is inefficient when a power receiving device is connected to an alternating current power supply during wireless power supply or when the device cannot be used immediately after charging due to the occurrence of an error. Embodiments of the power receiving apparatus and the method can overcome the problem. Depending on the presence/absence of the connection between the power receiving apparatus and the AC power supply, or depending on an error state of the power receiving apparatus, charging or relay of power from the power transmission apparatus is changed over, thus efficiently supplying power from the power transmission apparatus depending on the state of the power receiving apparatus.
