The Linux kernel and file system upgrading method includes steps that S1, preparing a Linux kernel, a root file system and/or other file systems for upgrading; S2, packaging the Linux kernel, root file system and/or other file systems together, and adding a defined packet header file to the head; S3, uploading the packaged upgrading file to the memory of a product to be upgraded, and sending signals to a system control program to inform of the upgrading result after finishing upgrading. After using the Linux kernel and file system upgrading method, such modules to be upgraded as Linux core, root file system and other file systems are combined together, or single modules or departments are combined and packaged together, modules to be upgraded are automatically packaged according to user requirements, after finishing upgrading, signals are sent to the system control procedure to inform of the upgrading result, the system control procedure loads according to the informed upgrading result, and the upgraded programs can bring into operation immediately.
