The invention discloses a method for embedding, detecting and extracting digital watermarks. The method comprises a digital watermark embedding step, a digital watermark detecting step and a digital watermark extracting step, wherein the digital watermark embedding step comprises the sub-steps of image segmentation, wavelet transformation, watermark information bit sequence embedding, wavelet inverse transformation and the like; the digital watermark detecting step comprises the sub-steps of image segmentation, wavelet transformation, related coefficient calculation and the like; the digital watermark extracting step comprises the sub-steps of watermark information bit sequence detection, bit sequence bit judgment, bit sequence bit statistics and the like. The method can realize the embedding, the detection and the extraction of the digital watermarks of video data and can provide copyright protection for video copyright owners.
