The invention provides a recording device and a recording method for fault data of a power measuring automatic terminal. Communication is performed between fault data recording equipment and the power measuring automatic terminal through two serial data lines. The recording device comprises a control signal monitoring module, a data signal monitoring module and a data arrangement module, wherein the control signal monitoring module is used for receiving the data transmitted by a first serial data line at fixed communicated rate through a control monitoring port, and recording a time log of each data packet, the data signal monitoring module is used for receiving the data transmitted by a second serial data line at variational communicated rate through a data monitoring port, and recording the time log of each data packet, and the data arrangement module is used for obtaining the data according to the receiving sequence of each data packet. The recording method adopts the recording device to record the data of the power measuring automatic terminal. The recording device and the recording method have the advantage that the communication data between the power measuring automatic terminal and an electric meter is accurately recorded, so as to quickly overhaul the power measuring automatic terminal.
