The invention relates to a wallpaper base, in particular to a long-effective antiseptic and heat insulation type PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) base wallpaper and a preparation method thereof. The base wallpaper is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 4 to 6 parts of N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide, 40 to 50 parts of bleached chemical hardwood pulp, 12 to 15 parts of bamboo fiber, 20 to 30 parts of fully-bleached chemical softwood pulp, 1 to 2 parts of sodium carboxymethyl starch, 2 to 3 parts of menthol, 13 to 18 parts of 600-800-mesh porous mullite powder, 2 to 4 parts of soy isolate protein, 2 to 3 parts of polyvinyl butyral, 4 to 6 parts of a PAE wet strength agent, 12 to 16 parts of 800-1,250-mesh environmentally-friendly pigment, 10 to 15 parts of an adhesive, and 3 to 5 parts of an additive. The base wallpaper contains controlled-release menthol which can be dispersed and combined well in fiber pulp and is long-lasting; in addition, surface coating liquid prepared from the additive, the pigment and the adhesive by diluting and compounding is uniform and rich in color and luster, obvious in retention effect, easy to coat, and high in utilization rate; the glued base wallpaper has a flat and straight surface, is environmentally-friendly, nontoxic, heat-insulated, and outstanding in physical performance, so that a foundation is created for the production of quality wallpaper products.
