Summary:The invention provides a sizing agent for a carbon fiber and a production method of the sizing agent. An epoxy resin emulsion, which is excellent in stability, and of which the mean grain size is smaller than 300nm can be obtained if mechanical shearing is combined with ultrasonic emulsification, and an efficient emulsifier is used cooperatively under the premise that the epoxy resin is not subjected to hydrophilic modification. The emulsion is taken as the sizing agent for the carbon fiber, and is even to starch; and the water absorption of the starched fiber is small.
