Summary:This overhead view image display device (10) is equipped with: cameras (11a, 11b) that are mounted on a vehicle and used for capturing images around the vehicle; an image generation section (21) for converting the viewpoints of the images captured around the vehicle and for generating an overhead view image by compressing image areas around the vehicle toward the vehicle side at a predetermined compression ratio without using position information on targets that are present around the vehicle; and a display unit (12) for displaying the generated overhead view image. With this overhead view image display device (10), the positional relationships between the targets, which are present around the vehicle, and the vehicle are fairly accurately displayed in the overhead view image. Consequently, an overhead view image that allows distances to targets to be easily recognized can be displayed by using a simple configuration without any distance-measuring sensor or the like.
