The invention discloses a method and apparatus for monitoring underground water and soil loss and soil permeability and gathering water for irrigation. The method comprises the steps of pre-embedding a water storage device for gathering lost underground water in to-be-monitored soil; and then pumping the lost underground water gathered by the water storage device periodically through a water pumping device and taking sediment out, thus determining the water and soil loss condition and soil permeability condition of the soil according to the quantity of water and sediment which are pumped out from the water storage device. The water pumped out is used for irrigation. The method and apparatus provided by the invention have the characteristics of low cost, simple operations and good monitoring effect, overcome the difficult problem of monitoring the underground water and soil loss at present, and particularly are suitable for monitoring and studying the underground water and soil loss in karst regions.
