The invention belongs to the pulping and papermaking fields, and especially relates to a preparation method of a bio-based adhesive-containing light weight coated paper coating. The bio-based adhesive adhesive-containing light weight coated paper coating comprises, by mass, 10-50% of kaolin, 30-80% of calcium carbonate, 1-15% of a bio-based adhesive, 10% or less of petrochemical latex, 8% or less of coating starch and 1-10% of an auxiliary agent. The bio-based adhesive is starch-based biolatex or modified collagen. The coating obtained in the invention has the advantages of high solid content, low viscosity, good water retention performance and low production cost. Light weight coated paper produced by using the coating has high printing surface strength, and the printing surface strength obtained by detecting through an IGT printability tester reaches above 2.5m/s; and the light weight coated paper also has high whiteness, good glossiness and good printing glossiness.
