Summary:A light detection device (1) is provided with: a semiconductor light detection element (10A) having a semiconductor substrate (1N); and a mount substrate (20) disposed so as to face the semiconductor light detection element (10A). The semiconductor light detection element (10A) contains multiple avalanche photodiodes (APD) operating in Geiger mode and formed within the semiconductor substrate (1N), and electrodes (E7) electrically connected to the respective avalanche photodiodes (APD) and arranged on the side of main surface (1Nb) of the semiconductor substrate (1N). The mount substrate (20) contains multiple electrodes (E9) arranged on the main surface (20a) side so as to correspond with each electrode (E7), and quenching resistors (R1) electrically connected to the respective electrode (E9) and arranged on the side of main surface (20a). Electrodes (E7) and electrodes (E9) are coupled via bump electrodes (BE).
