Summary:The present invention heightens safety for a worker during inspection and subsequently for passengers during normal operation. An elevator with an operation switching system for switching from normal operation to inspection operation, wherein the elevator is provided with a switch (SW2) for switching between normal operation and inspection operation, and an inspection operation device (11, 17) for raising or lowering the elevator car as an inspection operation when an inspection operation switch (SW12) adapted for switching between the inspection side and the normal operation side is moved to the inspection side. Normal operation is disabled and inspection operation is enabled when the switch (2) is switched to inspection operation.
