The invention relates to a driver assistance system (12) for a vehicle, particularly a motor vehicle (1). The system has a gesture detection unit (14) for detecting a pointing gesture of a hand and/or a finger of a person, particularly a driver of a vehicle; an environment detection unit for determining objects (8-11) located outside of the vehicle; an eye detection unit (15) for detecting at least one eye of the person; and an evaluating device (13) for selecting one object among the objects (8-11) located outside of the vehicle and displaying information of the object through a display device (19), in response to the detected eye and the pointing gesture.
