Summary:An electronic control unit (26) of a braking force control apparatus for a vehicle of the present invention generates a motor braking torque by putting in-wheel motors (15 through 18) into operation through a regeneration state as a first state, and generates a friction braking force at friction brake mechanisms (21 through 24). Also, the unit (26) generates a motor driving torque by putting the motors (15 through 18) into operation through a powering state as a second state, and generates the friction braking force at the mechanisms (21 through 24). When there is a state transition between the first and second states, the unit (26) either increases or decreases a size of the driving torque or a size of the braking torque generated by the motors (15 through 18), and either increases or decreases a size of the friction braking force generated by the mechanisms (21 through 24).
