Summary:The invention discloses a serial number generating method based on a database system. Serial numbers are used for distinguishing services in a plurality of single machines in communication with a database, and the serial number generating method comprises the steps that when a serial number distributing request proposed by a serial number request process accessing the database is received, a section of continuous serial numbers with a current first usable serial number as a head is distributed to a serial number service process; the serial numbers distributed to the serial number service process are eliminated from the current usable serial numbers. Through the method, the performance of the system can be improved, and stable services can still be provided when problems occur to the database system.
