Summary:Provided is a rotary machine which can be produced with good work efficiency and which is configured so that the misalignment between an impeller and a shaft during rotation can be reduced. The rotary machine comprises: the shaft and the impeller for rotation; and the impeller having a disc which has a substantially cylindrical hub fitted to the shaft and which is provided so as to gradually expand outward in the radial direction as the disc extends from the front end toward the rear end of the hub, the impeller also having blades disposed on the surface of the disc. The hub has: a tight fit section having an inner radius less than the radius of the shaft, and a loose fit section having an inner radius greater than the inner radius of the tight fit section. The loose fit section is disposed closer to the front end of the hub than the tight fit section.
